Our mission

Severe weather does not stop at county lines. We monitor warnings across our network, deliver SMS alerts to the counties you choose, and maintain a trusted list of road, school, and community closures submitted by staff, partners, and the public. When minutes matter, clear information should be easy to find in one place.

What you can do on this site

  • Sign up for alerts — Receive NWS warnings and important local notices by text message (SMS) for the counties you select.
  • County forecast tools — Check current conditions, wind, pressure, and outdoor activity guidance for counties in our network.
  • Active alerts map — Explore all in-effect warnings on an interactive map.
  • Closures list — View active road, bridge, and school closures and advisories.
  • Report weather impacts — Share hail, wind damage, flooding, or photos when it is safe to do so.
  • Safety classes — Register for upcoming online and in-person training sessions.
  • Volunteer with us — Help your community stay weather-aware.

Built for real communities

Quad County Weather is not a replacement for official warnings from the National Weather Service or instructions from local emergency management. We amplify those messages, add local context where we can, and work to close gaps—especially in rural areas where every minute of lead time counts.
